Citroen Basalt X Launched In India At Rs 7.95 Lakh

After introducing the C3 X, Citroen India is now extending the ‘X’ badge to the Basalt lineup as well, with the launch of the updated Basalt X for its coupe SUV. Along with the updated name, the Basalt X brings feature additions and a price revision across the range. Prices for the Basalt X now range from Rs 7.95 lakh to Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory), which is much lower than the erstwhile range.

Citroen Basalt X Launched In India

Just like the recently launched C3 X, the Basalt X doesn’t get any major visual updates on the exterior, apart from a new ‘X’ badge on the tailgate that sets it apart. The main highlight is in the interior. The dashboard undergoes a noticeable redesign, featuring a more squared-off layout complemented by a dual-tone finish and a textured pattern along the upper panel’s edge.

The centre console also adopts a refreshed look, now sporting sleeker air-conditioning vents, contrast trim accents, and repositioned controls that sit higher up on the stack. The hazard light switch moves from the lower section of the console to a new spot between the air vents. Additionally, the coupe-SUV appears to offer leatherette upholstery, at least in its top-spec variant.

The most significant change that comes with the ‘X’ badge is the upgraded feature list. Leading which is ‘Cara’, Citroen’s new in-car voice assistant. Cara handles a variety of tasks, from providing updates about the car, media controls, hands-free calling, SOS functions, smart reminders, and more. However, it's worth noting that Cara is exclusive to the automatic versions of the Basalt X Max, which is the top-spec variant.

The powertrain sees no change in this update. The Basalt X is offered with either a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill good for 81 bhp and 115 Nm or a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit that belts out 108 bhp and 195 Nm in manual and 205 Nm in automatic guise. The naturally aspirated petrol mill is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol comes with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Electric Vehicles To Continue With Lowest GST Rates Across All Segments

New set of GST reforms have been announced and they have brought festive cheer to new car and bike buyers across the country. While taxes on mass market cars and bikes have been reduced to 18% from 28%, the GST council has left electric vehicles untouched and they will continue to attract a 5% tax just like earlier. This includes both passenger cars as well as two-wheelers. So as far as green mobility goes, nothing really changes when it comes to the tax structure.

14

Premium EVs too will continue to be sold with 5% GST

There was speculation before the council meeting that EVs will be put in separate tax slabs based on how they are priced. This included levying 5% GST on EVs priced below Rs. 20 lakh and 18% GST on electric cars priced between Rs. 20 lakh and Rs. 40 lakh. It was also speculated that any EV priced above Rs. 40 lakh could be taxed at a higher 40% rate but the govt chose to continue with a flat 5% rate across all segments.

Electric-two wheeler tax slab has also not changed.

While new GST rates for Petrol and Diesel cars will come into effect from September 22nd, no changes in EV tax slab means that prices will remain unchanged. This signifies centre’s big push towards electric mobility as any increase in taxes could’ve made EVs more expensive, thereby hampering sales in the crucial festive season.

GST Cut To 18%: Hatchbacks, Subcompact SUVs, Mass-Market Scooters And Bikes To Get Cheaper

Just In time for the festive season, automobile buyers have got a major relief when it comes to prices of new vehicles. After the Independence day announcement of rationalisation of GST rates by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Finance Ministry has announced new and simplified tax slabs for various goods, including passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as spare parts. This is likely to bring their costs down effective September 22nd, 2025.

Bigger cars will now attract a flat 40% tax with zero cess.

Cars which are under 4 meters in length and run on 1200cc Petrol engines or 1500 cc Diesel engines or lesser will now attract at GST rate of 18% instead of earlier 28%. This means cars in all mass market segments like hatchbacks, subcompact sedans and subcompact SUVs will now become cheaper than earlier. Any other car will attract a flat tax of 40% and unlike earlier there will be no cess applicable on their purchase. EVs will continue to attract a rate of 5% irrespective of the segment they belong to.

Two-wheelers which run on 350cc engines or lesser will also now attract an 18% GST instead of earlier 28%. However motorcycles and scooters that run on bigger engines will now be taxed at 40% which will make them more expensive than earlier.  The Government has also reduced tax slabs on trucks, buses and ambulances from an earlier 28% to 18% while three-wheelers will also now be taxed at 18% down from 28%. New Maruti Suzuki Victoris Unveil Higlights: Features, Specifications, Images

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch a new SUV in India today, September 3, 2025. Although the official name is yet to be revealed, it is expected to be called either Victoris or Escudo. This SUV will be the flagship model for the company’s Arena dealership network, which has a wider market presence compared to the premium Nexa outlets.

The upcoming SUV is expected to be built on the same platform as the Grand Vitara, with spy images surfaced online earlier hinting at a similar overall silhouette. However, cosmetic changes to the exterior are expected to help distinguish it from its Nexa counterpart.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer the new SUV with both petrol and CNG powertrains. Given its shared underpinnings with the Grand Vitara, a strong hybrid variant could also be on the cards. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and an e-CVT, depending on the variant.

Audi Unveils Concept C; Signals Reborn TT Coming In 2027

At a showcase in Milan, Audi has pulled the covers off the Audi Concept C, a striking preview of what future Audis will look and feel like. But more than just a concept car, this unveiling is being pitched as the brand’s new design manifesto. But what we think right now is that the Concept C is what the reincarnated TT would look like, as the Concept C is green-flagged for production.

Also read: Audi India Reports Sales of 2,128 Units In H1 2025, Down 14 Per Cent

And the best part is, the Concept C looks almost production-ready, and the road-going coupe it will spawn won’t deviate much from what we see here. It may be a fresh design language by Four-Rings, but the elements are new to us. Firstly, the vertical design frame is inspired by the legendary Auto Union Type C racer, says the Ingolstadt-based carmaker. Secondly, the silhouette of a mid-engine sports coupe, with its raked roofline and fastback silhouette, and large alloy wheels, all hint at the design concepts of yesteryear.

Audi C Concept 2025 1280 5342552e1ca427b91765ba057015894506

Go back a few years (or decades) and you’d notice the Concept C shares similarities with the Nuvolari Quattro Concept shown in 2003. Then there was the RSQ Concept, which spawned the iconic R8. And the plethora of e-tron Concepts that made their way into production in some or the other form. The Concept C also shares some design elements with the Concept E from last year. However, unlike the TT, this one might be an electric only.

The low-slung, flat-top design of the Concept C is combined with upright fore and aft, sleek strips for headlamp and tail lamps, and a removable roof. It’s a proper two-seater and not a 2+2. Looking at it from some angles might recall the infamous Jaguar Type 00 Concept, as the flying buttress is sans a rear windscreen, and the squared-off panels do resemble the design study showcased by the British carmaker. And the simple, upright, square grille isn’t new in any way either; it is seen in some variation on older Audi design studies.

Audi C Concept 2025 Interior ed765097

Even the cabin looks ready for a road-going car, using modern, recycled materials for door pads, seats and dashboard. The minimalistic theme is present with an empty centre console and a simple dashboard layout. The infotainment screen also read “Charge 100%” giving a clear nod to its electric underpinning.

With its debut at IAA and first production plan rolling off in 2027, the Concept C might mark the return of the two-door coupe for Audi after a long hiatus. It will have competition in the form of reborn 'Neue Klasse' BMW Z4 or the reincarnated Mercedes-Benz ‘Vision’ GT, you catch the drift?
