The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed the 35 lakh production mark in India, nearly 18 years and nine months after it first went on sale in 2008. It joins the Alto, Swift and WagonR as the fourth Maruti Suzuki model to cross 35 lakh units in cumulative production.

When the Dzire first arrived, it was essentially a Swift with a boot. The design divided opinion, but that did little to put buyers off. Its combination of good fuel efficiency, affordable running costs and Maruti Suzuki's widespread service network struck a chord with Indian families, helping it become one of the country's best-selling sedans.
The Dzire has also had a steady run of updates over the years. The first-generation model was followed by the second generation in 2012 and the third in 2017. The latest, fourth-generation model went on sale in November 2024.

The Dzire took seven years to reach its first major production milestone of 10 lakh units, achieved in April 2015. It crossed 20 lakh units in June 2019, followed by 30 lakh units in December 2024. It has now added another five lakh units to that tally.
Each generation brought improvements in areas such as fuel efficiency, features, comfort and safety, helping the Dzire stay relevant in a segment that has seen several changes over the years.
The latest Dzire gets an entirely new design, a new engine and more features than ever. Safety has also become a major talking point, with the fourth-generation model earning a safety rating that has changed perceptions of the Dzire and, more broadly, Maruti Suzuki cars.
