Kawasaki has launched the Z300 in India at Rs. 3.24 lakh (ex-showroom), introducing a naked streetfighter based on the Ninja 300. Positioned as the entry-level model in the brand's Z line-up, the motorcycle borrows its design cues from the larger Z900 and gets a more upright riding position than its faired sibling.

The Z300 features Kawasaki's signature Sugomi styling, with a muscular stance and minimal bodywork. It is available in two colour options: Candy Lime Green and Metallic Carbon Grey. The motorcycle gets a wide, single-piece handlebar for an upright riding position. Features include dual-channel ABS and a reverse LCD instrument cluster like the one on the Ninja 500. However, it misses out on smartphone connectivity.
Power comes from the Ninja 300's 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, paired with a six-speed gearbox. On the Z300, it produces 40 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 26.3 Nm at 10,000 rpm, marginally more than the Ninja 300's claimed outputs. At 175 kg, the Z300 is 4 kg lighter than the Ninja 300, primarily due to its reduced bodywork.

The Z300 uses the same tubular frame as the Ninja 300, along with a 37 mm telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock with preload adjustment. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with a 110-section front tyre and a 140-section rear tyre. Braking is handled by a 290 mm petal disc at the front and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS.

For its price, the Z300 brings twin-cylinder performance and streetfighter styling to Kawasaki's entry-level Z range. However, competition-wise, the motorcycle rivals against the KTM 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z in the single-cylinder space and the Aprilia RS 457 in the twin-cylinder space.
