VinFast has reached an important milestone in India, rolling out its 10,000th vehicle from its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The achievement comes less than a year after the Vietnamese EV maker started production in India and signals that its local operations are gathering pace.
VinFast's India plant currently manufactures the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. While neither vehicle has become a common sight on Indian roads just yet, the Vietnamese carmaker has been steadily laying the groundwork with local manufacturing, supplier partnerships, and dealer network expansion. The Thoothukudi facility is VinFast's first manufacturing plant outside Vietnam and currently has an annual production capacity of 50,000 units. That figure can be increased significantly as demand grows.
The company has also outlined plans to increase localisation and use India as an export base for select international markets in the future. Of course, producing cars is only half the battle. The bigger challenge lies in convincing Indian buyers to choose a relatively unknown brand over established players. Sales, service support, charging infrastructure, and long-term ownership experience will ultimately decide VinFast's success story.
For now, though, crossing the 10,000-unit production milestone is a strong start and proof that VinFast's India journey is moving in the right direction.

Tata Motors' heavy push into the Indian EV market looks set to continue with a host of new models. Aside from the already confirmed Sierra EV and the all-new Avinya electric SUV, Tata also looks to be readying an all-electric derivative of the Safari. The electric Safari could arrive as early as late 2026, with Tata previously confirming that it would launch at least two new nameplates in India in 2026. Reports suggest the production spec Avinya is expected to arrive early next year.
The heavily camouflaged test mule was spotted on Indian roads recently. While only visible from the rear, the housing for the rear electric motor can be clearly seen under the vehicle. Given that the Safari shares its platform with the Harrier, the Safari EV too is expected to be rear-wheel drive as standard with an option for a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain on top variants. Battery sizes are also expected to mirror the Harrier EV's, which comes with 65 kWh and 75 kWh options. Range, however, is expected to be lower than on the Harrier given the Safari’s slightly larger dimensions and the additional weight, in part because it is a three-row SUV.
Cosmetically, not much is visible with the basic elements, such as the connected tail lamps and lower secondary lights on the bumper edges, all unchanged from the ICE Safari. The camouflage on the wheels suggests that the EV will get its own unique alloy wheels for improved aerodynamics.
On the tech front, the Safari EV is expected to get all the bells and whistles from the Harrier EV, including a 14.5-inch QLED touchscreen, JBL Black audio system, powered front seats with ventilation, powered boss mode, digital rear-view mirror, panoramic sunroof and more.
India's electric scooter market is set to welcome a new player next month – Keeway, which will launch the EZI Hypevolt e-scooter in June. So far, Keeway – part of Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), which also handles QJ Motor and Benelli – has been a fringe player in India, and has previously offered high-capacity petrol scooters such as the Vieste 300 and the Sixties 300i. However, Keeway is now introducing its first electric scooter in the Indian market, picked up from its ‘EZI’ sub-brand in China.
What is EZI?
To roll out a range of electric two-wheelers, Keeway founded EZI in 2020. EZI has a manufacturing facility in Ziyang, Sichuan, in China, and the brand currently produces a variety of scooters and electric motorcycles, including a scrambler, a cruiser and a maxi-scooter, among others.
EZI Hypevolt: Design and powertrain
In its design, the EZI Hypevolt may remind some of the BMW CE 04, with its long, avant-garde shape. It even has a CE 04-like bench seat, split into sections for the rider and pillion.
The Hypevolt has split LED headlights flanked by vertical LED daytime running lights, and it will have a raised stance, as it rides on large, 14-inch alloy wheels. Seat height is 770 mm, and the scooter weighs 145 kg.
In China, the Hypevolt is available with twin 2.5 kWh batteries for a total capacity of 5 kWh. The scooter, in its home market, can be had with either a hub motor, or a mid-drive motor. Continuous output is rated at 6 kW (8 bhp) for the latter, while peak output is 12 kW (16 bhp). Top speed, as per EZI, is 115 kmph.
EZI claims the Hypevolt will have a range of up to 140 kilometres. The scooter features fast charging as well.
EZI Hypevolt: Safety and features
The Hypevolt will have disc brakes front and back, and while a variant with a combi-braking system (CBS) is offered in China, we expect the India-spec scooter to be offered with dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Other key safety equipment on the scooter includes traction control, hill descent control and hill hold control. Interestingly, in its home market, the Hypevolt is also equipped with a rear camera and a blind spot detection system, but it remains to be seen if these features are included on the India-spec scooter.
EZI Hypevolt: How much will it cost?
With the launch likely to take place in mid-June, the EZI Hypevolt will enter uncharted territory, as it is likely to be one expensive e-scooter. While it won't be as pricey as the BMW it somewhat resembles, the Hypevolt – with its twin batteries and equipment levels – is expected to cost upwards of Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tesla has introduced the 2026 Model Y in India in a single Premium RWD spec. Priced at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Model Y Premium RWD is priced almost Rs 9 lakh lower than the Model Y Standard Range launched in India last year, with the new variant featuring identical specifications.
Coming to the updates, the new Model Y gets the larger 16-inch touchscreen we first saw in the new Model Y L that arrived earlier this year. The remainder of the feature list is more or less similar to the outgoing Model Y, including features such as an 8-inch rear touchscreen, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, power folding rear seats with heating, 8 exterior cameras, electric adjustable air-con vents, a panoramic glass roof, frequency-selective dampers and a 9-speaker sound system.
Buyers can pick between all-black or grey upholstery options for the cabin. Going by images on Tesla’s official website, the grey upholstery option now extends to cover the upholstery used on the centre floor console, which was previously only finished in black. The all-black option now also includes a dark finished headliner.
Moving to the mechanicals, the Model Y Premium is offered in RWD spec with the Standard Range battery only offering a WLTP range of up to 500 km. As before, the Model Y supports Supercharging at up to 175 kW, adding up to 238 km of range in 15 minutes. Tesla claims an unchanged 0-100 kmph time of 5.9 seconds. Kerb weight is also unchanged at 1,928 kg.
Bookings for the 2026 Tesla Model Y are now open, with deliveries slated to commence from July 2026. The Model Y Premium RWD will be sold alongside the larger Model Y L.

Price of the long-delayed Toyota Urban Cruiser EBella has finally been announced, and the top-spec E3 variant has been launched for Rs. 23.60 lakh. Sadly, as of now the carmaker has only announced the price of the top-spec model, and prices for the lower versions – the E1 and E2, remain unknown. It appears Toyota plans to launch the other variants in a phased manner, and given how this EV has already been delayed so much, we wish that wasn’t the case.
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara, the EBella EV twin, has already been on sale for a while now. Interestingly, the former’s Alpha variant, the counterpart to the E3 grade of EBella, is priced at Rs. 20.1 lakh (ex-showroom) that’s a price difference of almost Rs. 3.6 lakh.

Tata Motors has given the Tiago hatchbacks a major upgrade for 2026, bringing in refreshed looks, new features, and a new platform, though the powertrains for the most part have stayed the same. The refreshed styling brings greater differentiation between the Tiago and Tiago EV on the outside as well. Lets take a closer look at the two hatchbacks in pictures.
The Tiago EV now gets a body coloured enclosed grille while the air vent on the bumper is body colour as well. Slim side vents hide the fog lamps.
The ICE Tiago meanwhile gets sharper looks with the black finsihed grille and wide central airdam and slit like side vents.
Both ICE and EV share similar styling at the rear.
The Tiago siblings get a new look dashbaord with freestanding displays up top.
One easy differnetiator between ICE and EV is the logo on the steering: stylised T for ICE and Tata.ev for EV.
Tiago EV gets dual tone fabric upholstery; older car got leatherette seats in top spec trim.
ICE Tiago also gets dual-tone upholstery but with darker inserts.
Both ICE and EV now get rear AC vents and a 65W USB Type C charging port.
Tiago AMT now gets a rotary dial gear selector; the phone tray can hold two phones; driver side unit gets wireless charging capabilities on top variant.
The 10.25-inch touchscreen is now freestanding and gets grpahics in line with newer Tatas.
Digital instrument cluster still features an LED readout at the centre on ICE and EV models; gets in-built Bluetooth.
The Tiago siblings now get LED reflector headlamps with integrated DRLs; top variants get auto headlamps and wipers too.

Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 in India at ₹ 86,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated commuter motorcycle receives subtle cosmetic changes along with a few feature additions, while continuing to be based on Hero’s popular 125cc platform that also underpins models like the Glamour and Xtreme 125R.
Looks-wise the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 gets refreshed styling through new dual-tone graphics, updated XTEC 2.0 branding, a 3D emblem, rim tapes, and a stitched dual-texture seat. Meanwhile, the motorcycle is available in five colour options – Glossy Black, Candy Blazing Red, Matt Axis Grey, Matt Nexus Blue, and Matt Chestnut Brown.
As for the equipment, the motorcycle is now equipped with an updated digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB Type-C charging port. Additionally, hero has equipped the motorcycle with hazard lights, adding to the safety and visibility in case of unexpected emergencies and breakdown scenarios. Lastly, it also gets an engine kill switch for convenience.
The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 retains the same 124.7cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10.7bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6,000rpm. However, Hero now claims an improved fuel efficiency figure of 72kmpl, compared to the previous 68kmpl mileage figure for the outgoing Super Splendor XTEC. This has been achieved due to Advanced Programmed Fuel Injection (APFI) system and the i3S idle stop-start feature.

Ultraviolette Automotive has officially confirmed that the launch of the Ultraviolette Tesseract has been delayed to January 2027. The electric scooter was first showcased in March 2025, and while initial expectations pointed towards a 2026 launch timeline, buyers will now have to wait roughly another eight months before the scooter finally enters the market. The company has explained the reason for the delay is mainly due to the extensive redevelopment and engineering changes carried out on the scooter since its unveiling.
According to Ultraviolette, the showcased version at the time of reveal was a mid-production-ready prototype. While functional, several elements of the scooter were still under development. Since then, the company had collected feedback from over 1,000 people including existing Ultraviolette owners and prospective buyers. Based on this feedback, the Tesseract has undergone revisions in ergonomics, practicality, comfort and packaging.
Among the major changes are a redesigned seat with improved cushioning, a slimmer yet longer floorboard for better accessibility and practicality, and enhanced material quality aimed at improving long-term durability. Ultraviolette says nearly 95 per cent of the original design has still been retained.
However, the biggest update comes underneath the bodywork. The Tesseract will now feature India’s first 100V scooter architecture, which the brand says enables significantly higher performance and efficiency. The new platform supports higher sustained power output, improved thermal management, faster charging and more compact electronic systems.
The company claims the scooter produces nearly three times more power than rivals at the same price point, while also supporting charging speeds that are roughly twice as fast as the current industry average. With the upgrades, the scooter will reportedly produce around 15kW of power and offer a top speed close to 125 kmph.
Ultraviolette also confirmed that several technologies from the Ultraviolette F77 have been carried over, including control systems and battery architecture. Interestingly, while the F77 relies on liquid cooling, the Tesseract will use an air-cooled setup with revised axial thermal conductivity solutions for better heat dissipation.
While the technological upgrades sound promising, the delay also raises questions about planning and development timelines. The Tesseract was already showcased publicly over a year ago, and such extensive redevelopment after unveiling suggests the scooter may have been revealed earlier than it ideally should have been. For customers who placed bookings soon after the reveal, the prolonged wait could potentially result in booking dropouts, especially in a highly competitive EV market where newer alternatives continue to arrive rapidly.
Production readiness could also become another concern. Ultraviolette has signed an MoU with the Karnataka government for a new manufacturing plant that will eventually have an annual production capacity of 1,50,000 units. However, the facility is still under development and is expected to become operational around the same time as the scooter’s launch. While the company says initial production can be managed by its current facility, the possibility of delays in plant readiness could also impact the commencement of deliveries.
Looking ahead, the production-ready version of the Tesseract is likely to make its global appearance at EICMA before its official market launch in early 2027. Lastly, as for the Shockwave motorcycle, it will also be delayed but Ultraviolette says it will share updates on the motorcycle in the coming weeks.

A month after entering the Guinness Book of World Records for “Heaviest Train Pulled by an SUV on Rail", JSW MG Motor India has launched the Majestor SUV in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 40.99. The SUV, for now, is available in a single Savvy variant with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
Currently, the Majestor slots above the Gloster in MG’s lineup with updated styling and a more feature-rich package, while retaining the same platform as the latter. Prices for the Gloster SUV range between Rs 38.33 lakh and Rs 46.43 lakh. Meanwhile, prices for the Majestor top out at Rs 44.99 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
Compared to the Gloster, the Majestor gets a more squared-off look. It gets a revised front-end design with a prominent ‘Mosaic Matrix’ grille, fresh LED DRLs, and tri-beam LED projector headlamps positioned lower on the bumper. The bumper itself is chunky and has a pronounced skid plate.
In profile, the SUV rides on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and gets prominent wheel arches, side steps and slim roof rails. At the rear, it features newly designed LED tail-lamps connected by a light bar with 'Morris Garage' spelt out above, along with the ‘Majestor’ name sitting below. The rear bumper gets heavy cladding, faux exhaust tips and a skid plate. Both trims of the Majestor are offered in four colour options: Black Ash, Black Metal, Concrete Grey and Pearl White.
Measuring 5,046mm in length, 2,016mm in width, and with a 2,950mm wheelbase, MG claims the Majestor is the largest SUV in its segment. Boot space is rated at 343 litres with all three rows up, and expands to 1,350 litres with the third row folded.
Compared to the Gloster, the cabin has been reworked with a new dashboard layout centred around a freestanding 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a fully digital instrument cluster of the same size and a redesigned centre console with twin wireless charging pads.
The Majestor offers powered front seats with 12-way adjustment for the driver, along with ventilation and multi-mode massage functions. The cabin is finished in a ‘smoked ebony’ theme and is available in both six- and seven-seat layouts, with captain seats for the second row. The six-seat option is offered only in 4x2 spec.
Other highlights include three-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and more.
Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, while Level 2 ADAS is only offered on the top-spec trim. Key features include autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot detection, among others.
MG Majestor: Engine
Powering the Majestor is the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which is borrowed from the Gloster. It churns out 212 bhp and 479 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV is offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. The four-wheel drive variant comes equipped with 10 terrain modes, including Sand, Snow, Rock and Mud, along with a triple differential lock and a crawl control function. It also gets three drive modes as standard – Sport, Normal, Eco – while the water wading capacity is 810mm.
MG Majestor: Rivals & Price
The Majestor’s chief rival in the Indian market is the Toyota Fortuner, which is priced between Rs 34.76 lakh and Rs 50.46 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Renault Duster has finally returned, and we recently got our hands on the hot 1.3-litre turbo-petrol automatic version. For those who think the 1.0-litre doesn’t cut it, and the hybrid is too long a wait, we put this powertrain through our real-world fuel-efficiency tests to see how economical it actually is in everyday driving conditions.
Powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 160 bhp, the Duster comes paired with a 7-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Renault’s focus with this setup is clearly on balancing performance with usability, and the real-world numbers reflect that.
During our city fuel-efficiency test, the Duster returned 9.2 kmpl. On the highway, the figure improved significantly to 15.5 kmpl. Interestingly, the SUV’s MID displayed more optimistic numbers throughout the test cycle. During the city run, the indicated fuel efficiency hovered around 11 kmpl, while highway driving showed close to 19 kmpl. The difference between indicated and actual efficiency worked out to nearly 3 kmpl.
