On the design front, the Convertible looks nearly identical to the Cooper hatchback, save for the roof. The fixed hard top of the hatch is replaced by a fabric soft top that Mini says can be opened and closed in up to 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 kmph. The fabric soft-top also comes with a sunroof mode - just slide open the section above the front seat. Mini is offering four colour options to pick from - British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Ocean Wave Green and Sunny Side Yellow. Buyers also get two 18-inch wheel designs.

On the feature front, the central touchscreen packs in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, along with a built-in voice assistant and navigation. Occupants also get power-adjustable sport seats up front - with driver memory, a Harman Kardon sound system, rear view camera, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, auto climate control, tyre pressure monitoring, and Level 1 ADAS functions.

Moving to the powertrain, the Cooper S Convertible gets the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 201 bhp and 300 Nm paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Mini claims a 0-100 kmph time of under 7 seconds and a top speed of 240 kmph.

New Kia Seltos vs Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Dimensions, Engines, Features Compared

The second-generation Kia Seltos is finally here, and it looks quite different from the model it will eventually replace once launched on January 2, 2026. It’s a bit larger, wears Kia’s updated design language, and gets a refreshed cabin layout with a few new touches. Powertrain options remain the same, but the overall look of the compact SUV has undergone a radical change, both inside and out. Here is how it compares to the new contender from Maruti, the Victoris, on paper.

New Kia Seltos vs Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Dimensions

  Kia Seltos  Maruti Victoris
Length   4460 mm  4360 mm
Width  1830 mm  1795 mm
Height  1635 mm  1655 mm
Wheelbase  2690 mm  2600 mm
Boot Space  447 litres  439 litres

The new Kia Seltos is noticeably larger than the Maruti Suzuki Victoris in proportions. At 4,460 mm, the Seltos is 100 mm longer, and its width of 1,830 mm gives it a 35 mm advantage. The Victoris, however, stands slightly taller at 1,655 mm compared to the Seltos’ 1,635 mm. The Kia also offers a longer wheelbase at 2,690 mm – 90 mm more than the Victoris’ 2,600 mm – which should translate to better cabin space. Boot capacity is marginally higher in the Seltos as well, at 447 litres versus the Victoris’ 439 litres.

New Kia Seltos vs Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Engine, Gearbox & Drivetrain

  Kia Seltos  Maruti Victoris
Engine  1.5 NA petrol | 1.5 turbo-petrol | 1.5 diesel  1.5 NA petrol | 1.5 petrol-CNG | 1.5 NA petrol (strong hybrid)
Power  112 bhp | 157 bhp | 114 bhp  102 bhp | 99 bhp/87 bhp | 91 bhp
Torque  144 Nm | 253 Nm | 250 Nm  139 Nm | 137/122 Nm | 122 Nm
Gearbox  6 MT/IVT | 6-iMT/7-DCT | 6-MT/6-AT  5-MT/6-AT | 5-MT | e-CVT
Drivetrain  2WD  2WD/AWD | 2WD | 2WD

The Kia Seltos – though it carries forward its engine options – holds a clear lead in outright performance, offering more power and torque than any of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris’ engine options. Its turbo-petrol unit in particular produces noticeably higher output than the Victoris’ naturally aspirated, CNG, and strong-hybrid setups. Even the Seltos’ naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines punch out stronger figures than the equivalent 1.5-litre petrol units in the Victoris.

New Kia Seltos vs Maruti Victoris

The gearbox options offered by both carmakers on their compact SUVs also differ. The Seltos offers a wider mix of manuals, automatics, an iMT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the Victoris sticks to a simpler spread of 5-MT, 6-AT, and e-CVT (hybrid) combinations. Both SUVs use front-wheel drive as standard, though the Victoris additionally offers an all-wheel-drive (Maruti's all-Grip Select) configuration, which is not available on the Seltos.

Looking at the top-spec variants, both SUVs come packed with similar features, though each carmaker follows its own when it comes to screen layout and in-car tech. The Victoris gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen that sits separately from its 10.1-inch digital driver display, giving the dashboard a dual-screen look.

The Seltos is equipped with flush-fitting door handles, while the Victoris gets pull-type door handles. LED lighting is offered on both models.

The new Seltos, meanwhile, continues with the familiar single-panel setup but steps things up with 12.3-inch displays for both the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with a small secondary screen for the AC controls, similar to what Kia offers on the Syros.

The Victoris’ features list includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, ventilated front seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, connected car tech, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, and a heads-up display.

The Seltos keeps most of its existing equipment but brings along upgrades of its own, such as a 10-way powered driver’s seat with memory, a head-up display and a relaxation function for the driver’s seat, along with dual-zone climate control. However, it is the Victoris that gets a gesture-operated tailgate, which is missing on the Seltos.

Both SUVs offer Level 2 ADAS in their fully loaded variants. Standard safety equipment on the Victoris includes six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats. The Seltos includes all of these as well, while also adding all-wheel disc brakes, a rear-view camera with guidelines, brake assist, and a few other safety aids depending on the variant.

New MINI Cooper Convertible India Launch Tomorrow

The new-gen MINI Cooper S Convertible is all set to go on sale in India tomorrow, on December 12, 2025. This open-top version brings in a lot more style, along with the new looks and features we have already experienced with the 3-door hatchback. While we drove the German-spec Cooper S Convertible some time back in Munich, recently we also flavoured the India-spec model, which you will find on the car&bike website. Pre-bookings for the Cooper S Convertible were opened last month, on November 20.

The Indian-spec MINI Convertible is identical to the Cooper S when it comes to powertrain – a 2.0-litre twin turbo petrol engine that makes 201 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The car propels from 0-100 kmph in 7 seconds.

Visually, the car shares most of its styling cues with the Cooper S – the large split grille with the S branding, sweptback circular headlamps, and vertically stacked LED taillights with the Union Jack lighting signature. The 18-inch alloys get a different design, but the big visual change is the retractable soft-top roof. In fact, the roof can be folded completely in 18 seconds, not just when stationary, but at speeds up to 30 kmph.

In terms of layout, the cabin is identical to the Cooper, but the colour palette is slightly different. You can opt for either a curated accessory pack or choose your favourite accessories while booking the car. Optional features offered under these packs include powered seats, Sport steering wheel, heated steering wheel, and MINI Experience modes.

8

The big highlight inside the cabin is the circular 13.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. There is a driver cluster, but rather a head-up display (HUD) for any vehicle information the driver might need on the go. Other notable features include a Harman sound system and a wireless charger. The second row is surprisingly decent on space, and the access too is good with the front seat forward recline option.

2

The standard MINI Cooper S is priced starting from Rs. 43.70 lakh and goes up to Rs. 54.40 lakh (all ex-showroom) for the JCW pack edition. The Cooper S Convertible, being the more exotic version, will come with a slightly higher premium. We expect the MINI Cooper S Convertible to be priced between Rs. 45 lakh and Rs. 55 lakh (ex-showroom).

New Kia Seltos Launched: Top 5 Highlights

Kia has launched the new and updated Seltos, celebrating its world premiere in India. With bookings open and launch set to take place on January 2, 2026, the Seltos is set to reignite the fire in the C-SUV segment where the competition has never been fiercer. So, what makes the new Seltos stand out? Here are five things you need to know about it.

Design and Styling:

New Generation Seltos Image 4

If you have seen the international Kia line-up, the new Seltos won’t feel out of place. The newest iteration of Kia's Opposites United design philosophy shares resemblance to the Sportage upfront with the grille mesh design and sleek LEDs for the headlamps and daytime running lights. Even the bumper design is more aggressive than before, and it now sits on newer 18-inch alloy wheels.

New Generation Seltos Image 1

Compared to the outgoing version, the new Seltos is slightly bigger in dimension, measuring 4,430x1,830x1,600 mm with a slightly longer wheelbase of 2,690 mm, up by 80mm compared to the outgoing model.

Powertrain Choices:

With the change in generation, there’s no change to the powertrain line-up in the new Seltos. You get the same three engine options – all three are 1.5L, all three are four-cylinder. The naturally aspirated petrol makes 113bhp and 144Nm and can be had with a manual or a CVT. And the other petrol is the TGDi, making 158bhp and 253Nm. This engine is available with a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed DCT. And lastly, the diesel produces 18bhp and 260Nm and is paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

There are two new colour options as well: Morning Haze and Magma Red. It was rumoured that the new Seltos would introduce a hybrid powertrain in the line-up, but it wasn’t the case at the launch. It may or may not come at a later date.

New Platform:

Kia Seltos 2027 1280 7334c3265d090ce60729c22630cb746fcd

Compared to the older Seltos, which was based on the K2 platform, the new one moves to the newer K3 platform. The increase in dimension comes courtesy of this change in platform, along with improved safety quotient and space inside the cabin. On the other hand, the Creta and the Clavis retain the older K2 platform.

Interior and Features

New Generation Seltos Interior Image

With the generation change comes a new cabin design which is inspired by the new Kia cars like the Syros and the Carens Clavis. There’s a new colour theme with a large floating panel on the dashboard and a newly-designed steering wheel as well. There are the new 12.3-inch dual displays with another screen in between. It has a 60:40 split second row with recline and a boot capacity of 447 litres behind the powered tailgate.

Second gen Kia Seltos interior

As for the feature list, it includes dual-zone climate control, Bose sound system, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, HUD, connected car technology, ambient lighting, reclining second row, and a full-LED light package. In terms of safety, it comes fitted with six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability programme, and hill-start assist as standard.

Competition

Following the global premiere, the new-gen Seltos will be launched in India on January 2, 2026. It is expected to carry a price range between Rs 12-20 lakh across the powertrain and variants. It will continue to face direct competition from the other C-SUVs, which include the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and the newly introduced Tata Sierra.

New Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Creta: Dimensions, Engines, Features Compared

Kia recently unveiled the new second-gen Seltos ahead of its India launch in January 2025. The new SUV brings some big changes, not just at the surface level but under the skin as well, being Kia’s first car for India on the Kia/Hyundai K3 platform. The result is an SUV that is larger and wider than its predecessor, while the feature list too has been upgraded with newer tech. We see how it compares to the segment benchmark, the Hyundai Creta, on paper.

Boot Space 447 litres 433 litres

The Seltos has a clear size advantage on paper in almost every aspect. It’s over 100 mm longer, 40 mm wider and sits on an 80 mm longer wheelbase. This should mean that the Seltos should offer greater interior space than its Hyundai cousin. The Seltos also gets marginally more boot space than the Creta too.

The new Seltos carries over the engine options from the first-gen SUV with no notable changes. This means that power and torque figures are identical to the Gen 1 SUV and by extension the Hyundai Creta as well, which shares the same powerplants. The only notable point of difference is that the Seltos turbo-petrol gets the option for a 6-speed clutch-pedal-less manual gearbox or iMT unit, while the Creta turbo-petrol is DCT only.

It's a similar story for the diesel powertrains too, with no difference between the two SUVs.

2026 Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Creta: Features

Moving to the features, the new Seltos does get some upgrades over the Creta. In the fully-loaded GTX(A) spec, the Seltos gets features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a third 5.0-inch touchscreen for air-con functions, dual zone climate control, a 10-way adjustable driver seat with memory function, auto dimming IRVM, front, rear and side parking sensors, 360-degree cameras and more.

Kia Seltos 12

In comparison, the Creta features smaller 10.25-inch displays, lacks side parking sensors and gets an 8-way adjustable driver seat minus a memory function. Features such as dual zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, panoramic sunroof and 360 degree cameras are shared.

On the safety front, the Creta gets six airbags as standard, along with features such as ABS, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring and rear parking sensors and camera in the base model. The Creta gets similar features in the base model, though it lacks a reverse camera.

Creta Image 7

Moving to the top variants, both SUVs get Level 2 ADAS tech with similar levels of capabilities. One key difference in the system is that the new Seltos gets a Parking Collision Avoidance function that is not offered in the Creta. The system is functional while reverse parking the Seltos.

More than six years after the debut of the original, the second-generation Kia Seltos will make its world premiere in India today, December 10. The Seltos has been central to Kia's success in India, being the Korean carmaker's entry product in our market that not only drew incredible amounts of interest initially, but has managed to remain one of the most prominent names in the compact SUV segment over the years. With the second generation, Kia is expected to take things to a whole new level, as the Gen 2 Seltos will have a completely different look and is expected to be even more tech-heavy than ever.

A steady feed of promos has confirmed the new Seltos will adopt a new design language, which will clearly distinguish it from the handsome-but-ageing first-gen model.

Carrying on from the polarising Syros, the new Seltos appears to take a more radical approach to its design and styling, one that may split opinion. Its reimagined ‘Digital Tiger Face’ will have a gloss-black grille, flanked by slim headlight units and vertical daytime running lights, with the outermost lighting elements doubling up as turn indicators.

Vertical DRLs will be present on the new Seltos.

Also seen in the promos are the Seltos' new dual-tone alloy wheels, flush door handles and a glasshouse design similar to the outgoing Seltos'. The slender, L-shaped tail-lights are linked by a full-width light bar, in a layout similar to the Carens Clavis', and the new Seltos, on the whole, appears to draw heavily from the new Kia Telluride that debuted a few months ago.

There is no shortage of choices when it comes to powertrains with the existing Seltos, and they will, in all likelihood, be carried over for the new-gen Seltos. However, the big news is that Kia is set to offer a hybrid powertrain option with the Seltos, which will help it compete on a more even footing with rivals such as the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki's Victoris and Grand Vitara.

2026 Kia Seltos: When will it be launched?

While it will be unveiled in full tomorrow, the new Kia Seltos will likely only be launched early in 2026. We expect Kia to announce prices for the second-gen Seltos in January and begin deliveries by the end of the same month.

As for features, the X440 T introduces several electronic features not available in the rest of the lineup. These include ride-by-wire, two ride modes (Road and Rain), switchable ABS, switchable rear traction control, and Panic Braking Alert. These updates distinguish the T variant within the 2025 lineup, while the engine and core mechanical components remain unchanged from the other trims.
