Kia Syros 1.0 Turbo Petrol DCT Automatic: Real-World Mileage Tested

The Kia Syros has been a part of the car&bike garage for three months now. And if you haven’t read my 45-day long-term review, do check it out here. In this report, I am going to answer the all-important question of – ‘Kitna deti hai?’ – and this is going to be interesting. Now, the model with me is the top-spec HTX+ (O), which is powered by the 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine and mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Now, the ARAI certified average fuel efficiency of the Kia Syros is 17.68 kmpl, but can it truly offer that in a real-world scenario?

Fuel Efficiency Test Parameters:

To get as accurate a result as possible, we did both the city and the highway fuel efficiency test, and then took an average. The fuel run was conducted on predetermined routes, which we follow for all test cars. For the city test cycle, the maximum speed was limited to 60 kmph, while for the highway fuel run, the maximum speed of the car did not exceed 100 kmph.

Kia Syros 17

Syros City Fuel Efficiency Test:

For the city cycle, we chose a route that had a mix of open stretches and bumper-to-bumper traffic. After filling up the Syros’ 45-litre fuel tank up to the cut-off point, I switched the trip meter to zero and off I went. Since the idea is to find out the car’s real-world mileage, the AC was kept at 23 degrees Celsius and the fan speed at level 2. Occasionally, I also enjoyed the Syros’ ventilated seats as well.

As mentioned earlier, the max speed was kept between 50-60 kmph, with the low points being 10-20 kmph. The complete city test loop was 80 km, and at the end of the test, the Syros had consumed 8.4 litres of fuel. And that gives us a city fuel efficiency of 9.53 kmpl.

Whats App Image 2025 10 02 at 17 44 44

Syros Highway Fuel Efficiency Test:

For the highway test run, the Syros was again filled up to the cut-off point, and the trip meter was again switched to zero. The same parameters were followed for the highway test cycle, concerning the AC temperature, and the only difference being that the speeds were kept between 90 and 100 kmph. I also ensured that I did not go below 85 kmph unless it was necessary.

At the end of the highway test loop, the Syros had consumed 7.55 litres of petrol, and the total distance covered was about 105 km. And this gives us a highway fuel efficiency of 13.9 kmpl.

Syros Average Fuel Efficiency:

Taking the city and highway fuel efficiency of the Kia Syros into account, we get an average fuel efficiency of 11.7 kmpl, depending on your driving style and road conditions. So, on a full tank, the Kia Syros can offer you a maximum range of up to 526 km.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris Clocks 25,000 Bookings In 2 Weeks Since Launch; Waiting Period Rises

Maruti Suzuki's latest SUV, the Victoris, is off to a flying start. Launched on September 15, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris has already amassed more than 25,000 bookings in just two weeks since its prices were announced. The company confirmed the news in its latest monthly sales call, and also revealed the waiting period for the Victoris has risen to over 10 weeks for select variants. However, Maruti did not specify which variants currently command the highest waiting time.

The Victoris is mechanically related to the Grand Vitara.

The Victoris has, in part, played a role in making this Navaratri spell the best one yet for Maruti Suzuki. The company said it has received over 1.50 lakh bookings and delivered 1.65 lakh vehicles already in the first eight days of this period, with a target to hit 2 lakh vehicle deliveries by Dussehra. Maruti also announced it is currently holding 2.50 lakh open bookings.

The new SUV is essentially a mechanical twin of the Grand Vitara, but unlike the Grand Vitara – which is exclusively sold through Nexa outlets – the Victoris is available at Maruti's more widespread Arena sales network. The Victoris takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate.

The Victoris is available in six trims - LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi(O), ZXi+, and ZXI+(O)- with petrol, CNG, and strong hybrid powertrain options. Standard engine option is a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, mild hybrid petrol engine that makes a peak 101.6 bhp and 139 Nm of torque and can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic - the latter also available with all-wheel drive. This engine can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit, but the only transmission available with this is a 5-speed manual.

The strong hybrid Victoris pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an onboard battery and electric motor. The petrol mill produces around 91.7 bhp and 122 Nm, while the electric motor is good for a peak 79 bhp and 141 Nm. A CVT gearbox is offered as standard for the strong hybrid variants.

Porsche Cayenne EV Interior Revealed: Curved 'Flow' Touchscreen, AR HUD And More

Porsche has shared the first images of the all-new electric Cayenne ahead of the model’s debut in the coming months. The images reveal that the new Cayenne follows the digital-heavy trend already set by models such as the Taycan and Macan EV before it, with the dashboard’s fascia almost entirely dominated by displays.

The centrepiece of the new cabin design is the 14.25-inch curved centre touchscreen, which Porsche calls its Flow Display. The OLED display is positioned vertically, with the lower section curved to seamlessly integrate with the central console. The upper section serves as the primary display surface, while the lower, curved section houses most of the menus and in-car function shortcuts. Additionally, buyers can also opt for a 14.9-inch co-driver display that turns the total display area into one of the largest yet to be offered on a Porsche.

As with other new Porsches, the new Cayenne gets a curved digital display for the instrument console, though the graphics still pay homage to Porsche’s original analogue set-up with the power gauge in the centre and the speedometer offset to the side. The Cayenne also gets the option for an augmented reality head-up display.

Other notable tech on offer will include a panoramic sunroof with Variable Light Control, letting users adjust the level of opacity at the touch of a button. The sunroof has four opacity levels - Clear, Semi (40 per cent), Bold (60 per cent) and Matte. The new Cayenne also gets new Mood Modes that pair the climate control, audio system, seat functions and active ambient lighting together ‘to aid relaxation and concentration or to further enhance the driving experience’ depending on the mode selected.

Also new to the Cayenne EV is a surface heating function that extends beyond just heated seats. Porsche says that the function now also covers large contact areas such as parts of the door panels and armrests for more efficient cabin heating.

The Cayenne EV’s cabin will also be offered with a large variety of customisation options, including a choice of 13 upholstery colour options, five accent packages and four interior packages. Buyers can also choose between leather and Race-Tex upholstery. Additionally, buyers can also opt for greater individualisation through the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur programme or even create full-blown one-off specs through the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme.
 Porsche Cayenne Electric

Moving to the underpinnings and powertrain, the new Cayenne Electric will be underpinned by the VW Group’s new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture with top variants set to feature dual-motor all-wheel drive. The top-spec Turbo trims are set to develop north of 1000 bhp and up to 1500 Nm and feature a large 113 kWh battery supporting up to 400 kW DC fast charging. Porsche has also confirmed inductive charging capabilities of up to 11 kW for the Cayenne electric.

The Cayenne Electric is understood to go on sale alongside the current internal combustion model, allowing buyers a choice between EV and ICE.
