Hyundai Confirms Entry Electric SUV For Indian Market; Debut In 2027

At its annual CEO Investor Day 2025, Hyundai confirmed the development of a new A+ segment electric SUV specifically for the Indian market. The company in an official statement, said that the SUV would be ‘the country's first EV designed specifically for local drivers’ with an ‘India-centric design and features.’

With Hyundai wording the new model as belonging to the A+ segment, we could be looking at a future Punch EV rival that is due to arrive in 2027. Further details on the model are unknown at this point, though the model could share its powertrains with the upcoming Kia Syros EV that is due to arrive in 2026. Positioning the EV in the lower A+ segment could help Hyundai avoid internal competition from Kia’s upcoming EV - a similar move as seen with the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Kia Carens EV.

Hyundai’s new small EV could be based around the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform that already forms the basis for EVs such as the Hyundai Inster electric city car in European markets. The new A+ segment SUV for India could be modelled after the European city car, giving it its own distinctive identity in Hyundai India’s range rather than being an EV derivative of an existing model. The Hyundai SUV could also share some of its running gear with the Syros EV to further economies of scale and keep costs in check.

Hyundai's electric city car, the Inster, could form the basis for the entry-level electric SUV for the Indian market.

 

Hyundai has confirmed that the made-for-India electric A+ SUV will benefit from a great degree of localisation, which should also help keep costs in check.

MINI Countryman JCW India Launch On October 14; Bookings Open September 22

MINI India has announced that it will launch the new Countryman John Cooper Works SUV in India on October 14, 2025. The JCW will be the first internal combustion variant of the new-gen Countryman to make it to India, with the SUV, launched in India in mid-2024, so far only offered as an EV.

Cosmetically, the Countryman JCW will not be all too different from the limited-run Countryman E JCW Pack launched in India earlier this year. This includes the more aggressive fascia with a sharper bumper with larger vents, large alloy wheels, a contrast-finished roof and trim accents and a pair of twin exhaust pipes at the rear accenting a sportier rear bumper. Unlike the Countryman E JCW Pack, the Countryman JCW gets a functional grille to feed air to the internal combustion engine tucked away under the bonnet.

Inside the cabin, the Countryman JCW gets red accenting along with bits such as a JCW steering wheel, JCW-specific drive modes and digital interface graphics along with sportier-looking pedals. The JCW could also offer some additional kit as standard compared to the Countryman E.

Suzuki Motorcycles Scooters Get More Affordable After GST 2.0

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has announced revised prices across its two-wheeler line-up below 350 cc, passing on the cut in GST rates to the brand’s customers. The bestselling Suzuki Access is now more affordable by Rs. 8,523 while the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 gets the maximum benefit of Rs. 18,024. According to Suzuki, the lower GST on spare parts and accessories will be passed on to customers across the country, who will benefit from lower long-term ownership expenses.

The revised prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025, following the government’s announcement to reduce GST from 28 per cent to 18 per cent on all two-wheelers upto 350 cc. In the scooter segment, the Suzuki Burgman Ex gets the maximum price benefit of Rs. 9,798, while the Suzuki Avenis is now more affordable by Rs. 7,823.

In the motorcycle segment below 350 cc, the Suzuki V-Strom SX will now become more affordable by Rs. 17,982 while the Suzuki Gixxer will get a price cut of Rs. 11,520. The full-faired Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 gets the maximum price benefit of Rs. 18,024.

GST 2.0 Effect: Maruti Suzuki To Slash Prices By Up To Rs 1.30 Lakh; Alto, Swift, Dzire, Brezza To Get More Affordable

Maruti Suzuki has become one of the last Indian carmakers to announce a downward revision in prices due to the upcoming revision in GST rates on automobiles. The carmaker has said that its range of cars will become more affordable by up to Rs 1.30 lakh, with the likes of the S-Presso, Alto, Fronx, Brezza and Grand Vitara set to receive the largest price cuts.

Starting with the small cars, the S-Presso is set to replace the Alto as the most affordable entry model in Maruti Suzuki’s range with a price cut of up to Rs 1.30 lakh. Prices for the S-Presso will now start from Rs 3.50 lakh as against Rs 4.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The Alto will also witness a substantial price cut of up to Rs 1.08 lakh, depending on the variant, with the starting price set to drop to Rs 3.70 lakh from the current Rs 4.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Celerio too will see a notable price cut of up to Rs 94,000, with the starting price set to be reduced to Rs 4.70 lakh from the current Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Similarly, the popular Wagon R’s prices are set to receive a downward revision of up to Rs 80,000, with the hatch to be now priced from Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ignis, meanwhile, see its starting price drop to Rs 5.35 lakh (ex-showroom) with prices of variants set to be reduced by up to Rs 72,000.

Popular models such as the Swift and Baleno will see prices slashed by up to Rs 85,000 and Rs 86,000, respectively. The Fronx and Brezza will both see prices reduced by up to Rs 1.13 lakh. The former will now be priced from Rs 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom) while the latter will now start from Rs 8.26 lakh (ex-showroom). Ducati Panigale V4, Streetfighter V4 Recalled In India

Ducati India has identified 393 units of its Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 models, which are being recalled over a potential defect in the rear wheel axle of the single-sided swingarm. The recall is part of a global action, and the bikes affected in India include the Ducati Panigale V4 (model year 2018 to 2024), and Streetfighter V4 (model year 2018 to 2025). Ducati India has confirmed that the brand is in touch with customers who own the models with the affected vehicle identification numbers (VINs).

As part of the global recall, Ducati North America is recalling just over 10,000 Ducati Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 motorcycles, over a range of model years, because of the potential defect in the rear wheel axle shaft on some units. The first and sole such failure incident was reported in September 2023 after which Ducati’s internal safety commission reviewed and monitored available data and that of subsequent reports received in November 2023, all from markets outside of US.

According to a US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall report, “a total of 11 worldwide cases plus some core samplings were examined. Various testing and analysis efforts failed to replicate the failure and proved inconclusive. Nonetheless, out of abundant precaution, a more robust wheel shaft was implemented into production and 10,182 post-production units (in the US) will be recalled for rear wheel shaft replacement, free of charge.”

Since then, Ducati has been proactively doing sample collection on a fleet of motorcycles in selected markets, without any conclusion. In July 2025, the brand decided to stop the sampling collection and to analyse all the samples collected to draw conclusions. On August 26, 2025, Ducati Motor Holding’s internal safety commission, based on the information developed during the investigation and related sampling collection, decided to launch a worldwide recall campaign to address this condition in the affected population.

It may be noted that for the 2025 model year, Ducati has changed the design of the rear swingarm, moving away from the single sided design to a new hollow symmetrical swingarm that is said to reduce lateral stiffness by 37 per cent while offering better grip, more direct line holding and increased stability. River Indie Now Offered With 8-Year Battery Motor Warranty

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer River has announced a 8-year/80,000 kilometre extended warranty program for the battery and motor of its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie. According to a company announcement, the extended warranty program will be available from October 1, 2025 for all new bookings and existing customers. Additionally, customers who previously opted for the company’s 5-year extended warranty can upgrade to the new 8-year warranty program withing a limited one-month window.

According to River, the 8 years/80,000 km extended warranty ensures protection if the battery’s state of health drops below 70 per cent or if the motor becomes non-functional even after repair. The 8-year extended warranty plan is available to customers who have made a purchase since April 1, 2025 for Rs. 8,399 + GST and customers with an existing 5-year extended warranty for Rs. 3,399 + GST.

Tata Altroz Facelift Secures Five Star Bharat NCAP Crash Safety Rating

The Tata Altroz facelift has become the latest Tata passenger vehicle to secure a full five-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The Altroz is the ninth Tata passenger car to secure a full five-star rating alongside models such as the Harrier & Harrier EV, Safari, Nexon & Nexon EV, Punch EV, Curvv & Curvy EV. The only models yet untested by Bharat NCAP include the internal combustion Punch, Tiago & Tiago EV and the Tigor and Tigor EV.

The Altroz is only the second hatchback to be tested by Bharat NCAP after the four-star-rated Baleno, with the Tata performing notably better. In adult occupant protection, the Altroz secured 29.65 points out of 32, offering good to adequate levels of protection to adult occupants in frontal offset impact and side pole impact testing. The hatchback, however, dropped points for offering marginal protection to the adult occupant’s chest in the side barrier impact test.

For child occupant protection, the Altroz scored 44.90 out of 49 points. In hatchback secured a dynamic score of 23.90 out of 24, along with a full 12  of 12 points for child restraint system installation. The hatchback, however, dropped points in the vehicle assessment score - scoring 9 out of a max 13 points.

Bharat NCAP said that the five-star rating will be applicable to all variants of the facelifted Altroz currently on sale - petrol as well as CNG.

Tata’s premium hatchback received a notable facelift earlier this year, bringing with it sharper exterior looks as well as a revamped cabin with some notable feature updates. The hatchback is currently offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as standard, paired with either a 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT or a 6-speed DCT. The petrol mill can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit offered solely with the manual gearbox. The Altroz also remains the only hatchback in the market to still offer a diesel engine option - a 1.5-litre mill good for 88 bhp and 200 Nm paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Honda WN7 Electric Motorcycle Unveiled

Honda has confirmed its first electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7, which will be unveiled in Europe. The WN7 is the production model of the Honda “EV Fun Concept” showcased at the EICMA 2024 show in Milan, Italy last November. The new Honda WN7 will be launched at EICMA 2025 in Milan, on November 4, 2025. The WN7 is part of Honda’s wider roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with all motorcycles to be carbon neutral by 2040.

The Honda WN7 features a fixed lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of 130 km on a single charge. The Combined Charging System Type 2 (CCS2) charger is said to enable rapid charging from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. A conventional home charger is claimed to take less than 3 hours to fully charge the Honda WN7.

According to Honda, the WN7’s performance rivals 600 cc internal combustion engine rivals in output, and 1,000 cc ICE models in torque. Ola Electric Hits 10 Lakh Units Production Milestone; Roadster X+ Special Edition Introduced

Ola Electric has announced achieving the 10 lakh unit production milestone from its facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The company, which began manufacturing in 2021, achieved the milestone in less than four years. Ola attributes this milestone to demand for its S1 electric scooters and Roadster X electric motorcycles.

To celebrate the milestone, the company has introduced a special-edition Roadster X+. Finished in midnight blue with red accents on the seat, rims, and battery pack, the X+ is available with two battery packs: a 4.5 kWh unit and a larger 9.1 kWh pack. The smaller pack is rated at 252 km IDC range, while Ola claims the bigger unit can deliver up to 501 km. 

 

Ola highlighted that the 9.1 kWh version will use its proprietary 4680-format 'Bharat Cell', developed and manufactured in India. The company has been positioning these cells as a step toward greater localisation of its EV technology.

At its annual ‘Sankalp’ event, Ola also announced two vehicles built around these 4680 cells, the S1 Pro+ with a 5.2 kWh pack, and the Roadster X+ with the 9.1 kWh pack. Prices are set at Rs 1.70 lakh and Rs 1.90 lakh respectively, with deliveries expected to begin this Navratri. Additionally, the S1 Pro Sport was launched with 5.2 kWh and 4 kWh battery options, starting at Rs 1,50 lakh. Deliveries for this model are planned for January 2026.

Citroen Aircross X Previewed Ahead Of Launch; Pre-Bookings Open

Citroën has previewed the next model in its new ‘X’ series - the Aircross X. The compact SUV is set to receive similar updates as the Basalt X, which was launched earlier in September. The Aircross X also marks the third model in Citroen’s range to get the ‘X’ treatment, following the internal combustion C3 hatchback and the Basalt.

Teasers preview new dashboard design and addition of cruise control; Automatic gearbox options to be retained.

 

On the design front, don’t expect any major changes to the exterior of the Aircross X, with the design remaining unchanged, including the alloy wheels. The bulk of the updates are inside the cabin with the Aircross X to also get the new, more squared-out dashboard design, replete with a dual-tone finish, new air con vent designs and repositioned air-con controls. The touchscreen is also set to now be a freestanding unit, with the instrument binacle also replaced by a freestanding screen. Also, expect new upholstery colours to be made available. As before, the Aircross is expected to continue to be offered in 5-seat and 5+2-seat configurations.

On the feature front, expect the top variants to get feature additions such as ventilated front seats, push-button start/stop, cruise control, keyless entry, ambient lighting, LED fog lamps, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and 360-degree cameras. The top spec model is also expected to get Citroen’s new Cara voice assistant.

Mechanically, the Aircross is expected to also remain unchanged with the familiar pair of 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine options carried forward. The former is offered with a manual gearbox only, while the latter gets the option for a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
