New Volkswagen T-Roc Caught Fully Undisguised Ahead Of Debut

The second-generation Volkswagen T-Roc has just been spotted fully undisguised ahead of its world premiere. Set to be unveiled later this month, the images reveal that the new T-Roc’s design will have echoes of the Tiguan SUV, which is on sale in the Indian market.

On the cosmetic front, the new T-Roc’s design is clearly in line with newer models from Volkswagen. The front end features angular headlamps, both linked by a full-width lightbar. Beneath the headlights sits the large air intake with a honeycomb mesh, with prominent cladding on both ends of the upper side. The silhouette of the vehicle appears to be similar to the outgoing model, featuring a prominent C-pillar, a well-defined shoulderline and taut wheel arches. The rear, meanwhile, gets a full width taillamp with horizontal lighting signatures, in the middle of which sits the illuminated Volkswagen logo.

The images also give us a glimpse of the interior, which again, appears to be similar to the new Tiguan. A large freestanding central touchscreen is seen, which sits above the air vents. What’s also seen is a digital instruments cluster which sits as a separate unit from the central unit.

On the powertrain front, the new T-Roc, similar to the outgoing model, is expected to be offered with a range of petrol options, alongside diesel engine options, only offered in select markets. While not confirmed, it also won’t be surprising if Volkswagen introduces a range of strong hybrid powertrain options for the model as well.

The first-generation version of the Volkswagen T-Roc was previously on sale in the Indian market. While brought to India as a completely-built unit (CBU), in limited numbers, the vehicle did manage to achieve a good level of popularity among the masses.

Nissan's Duster-Based SUV Spied On Test In India For The First Time

Nissan’s derivative of the upcoming Renault Duster SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The C-segment SUV, which is expected to go on sale in 2026, will be an addition to Nissan’s line of locally made products, which currently only includes one model. The company has however, confirmed that the SUV will not be offered with a diesel powertrain, due to falling demand and tightening emissions regulations. While Nissan hasn’t confirmed a name, there is a possibility the company could revive the Terrano nameplate for this model.

The spy shots, while featuring a fully-camouflaged unit, do show us a few aspects of the SUV. While the silhouette is largely similar to the Duster, the SUV is expected to feature a range of new styling cues to better differentiate it from its sister car. The headlights for instance, will be all-new units, with horizontal daytime-running-lamps, in addition to the grille, which will feature horizontal slats. The rear however, while camouflaged did seem to feature similar lighting as the Duster sold overseas.

During a previous interaction, Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo had confirmed to carandbike that the Alliance is evaluating alternative powertrain options for its upcoming new C-segment SUVs, which will also include a seven-seat model. The companies have previously stated they are working on CNG as well as ethanol powertrains for future products, although, it remains to be seen if those options will be introduced on the upcoming SUVs.

The Speed 400 features upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking duties are handled by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear, complemented by dual-channel ABS.

KTM 160 Duke Teased Ahead Of Launch

KTM India has rolled out a teaser image hinting at the arrival of a new motorcycle in its Duke lineup. Sources have confirmed the bike in question is the all-new KTM 160 Duke, which is set to launch later this month. Positioned below the current 200 Duke, the 160 Duke will become the most affordable offering in KTM’s India portfolio. Upon launch, it is expected to borrow several components from the 200 Duke, including design elements and hardware.

Previously, KTM’s entry-level models in India were the 125 Duke and its faired sibling, the RC 125. However, this duo failed to garner enough attention in the Indian market and were discontinued in March 2025. The upcoming 160 will be the entry-level KTM motorcycle in the Indian market.

The upcoming KTM 160 Duke will be built on the same platform as the 200 Duke, sharing its frame, suspension setup, and braking components. Powering the motorcycle will likely be a newly developed engine derived from the 200 Duke’s motor, essentially a detuned version. The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 160 cc engine is expected to produce around 19-20 bhp and 14-15 Nm of torque.

In terms of features, the 160 Duke is likely to come equipped with full LED lighting, a TFT digital instrument console, and Bluetooth connectivity. Following the launch of the 160 Duke, KTM will likely also introduce a fully faired RC 160 version. This would be positioned to take on the Yamaha R15 V4 squarely.

The primary objective of the KTM 160 Duke is to carve out its own niche in the competitive 160-200 cc motorcycle segment, which has been steadily gaining traction among young riders.

Genesis Finally Coming To India? Hyundai 'Strategically Evaluating' Launch Of Luxury Arm

Nearly an entire decade has passed since India first got a taste of Hyundai’s luxury segment aspirations, in the form of the Hyundai Genesis sedan, which was showcased at Auto Expo 2016. In the years that followed, murmurs of Hyundai’s interest to introduce its luxury vehicle arm to India surfaced at several points in time, but there has been no concrete development on this front so far. Now, Hyundai has hinted at the project being greenlit, stating it is actively evaluating an India launch for the Genesis sub-brand.

In the company’s annual report for FY2024-25, Hyundai India’s Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said, “We are also strategically evaluating the introduction of Genesis, Hyundai’s global luxury marque, to redefine luxury through innovation, design and differentiated experiences. This aligns with our aspiration to serve the evolving expectations of discerning Indian consumers.”

genesis gv60

GV60 is Genesis' smallest SUV yet, and comes with an electric powertrain.

What Is Genesis?

The Korean carmaker has, in the past, used the ‘Genesis’ moniker on a range of products, including sedans and sports cars. The first full-fledged sedan to bear the Genesis name was initially sold as a Hyundai, primed to take on established Germany luxury cars. Midway through the 2010s, Hyundai spun Genesis into a dedicated, luxury vehicle division, and rolled out a series of sedans and SUVs that now exclusively bear the Genesis logo.

Which Cars And SUVs Are Part Of Genesis’ Portfolio?

While its journey began with a sedan, Genesis now also boasts of an extensive SUV range. Overseas, its sedan line-up comprises the G70, G80 and G90 models, with the numbers effectively denoting the positioning of the sedans in the range.

Genesis GV 80 GV 80 Coupe Design Patents Filed In India 1

The GV80 coupe-SUV's design has already been registered in India.

When it comes to SUVs, the brand has a similar model structure, with GV70, GV80 and GV80 coupe-SUV. Sitting right at the entry point is the GV60, which is an electric SUV. Of these, it is the GV80 coupe-SUV that has already been trademarked in India, back in 2024, and we expect Genesis’ India arrival to be marked by the launch of one of its SUVs.

Where Will Genesis Models Be Built?

At present, Genesis’ passenger vehicles are manufactured in its home country of South Korea, with only the electric derivative of the GV70 SUV being produced in the United States, at Hyundai’s Alabama plant. Depending on its market strategy, Hyundai could choose to import Genesis models as completely-built up (CBU) offerings, or consider local assembly, to ensure competitive pricing against German carmakers.

Triumph Thruxton 400 Launched In India At Rs 2.74 Lakh

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its 400 cc lineup in India with the launch of the Thruxton 400. The Speed 400-based cafe racer has been a long time coming, with multiple test mules spotted over the course of a year. The latest offering from Triumph is the fifth motorcycle to yield from Triumph's 400 cc platform. At Rs 2.74 lakh, it is the second most expensive 400 cc offering from the brand, with the Scrambler 400 XC sitting at the top, at Rs 2.94 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). Compared to the Speed 400 (Rs 2.46 lakh), it is Rs 27,921 more expensive.

Also Read: Triumph Scrambler 400 XC Review: Style Over Substance
Triumph Thruxton 400 Launched In India At Rs 2 74 Lakh 1
The Thruxton 400 shares several design elements with the Speed 400, including its fuel tank, side panels, and alloy wheels, which appear largely unchanged. The most prominent difference is at the front, where, in true cafe racer fashion, it has a bikini fairing paired with a round headlight. Additionally, it gets clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and a rear cowl.

The riding triangle on the Thruxton 400 will also be drastically different, given the cafe racer nature and the rear set footpegs. Moreover, the latest 400 from Triumph sits lower compared to the Speed 400 due to a redesigned subframe that narrows towards the rear. This brings the seat height of the Thruxton 400 down to 795 mm as compared to the Speed 400's 803 mm. There is also a 10 mm difference in wheelbase between the motorcycles, with the Thruxton 400 sitting at a smaller 1376 mm stretch. The ground clearance has also gone down from 164 mm to 158 mm.
 Triumph-Thruxton-400-colour-shemes
The colour palette for the cafe racer includes triple-tone paint schemes, including yellow, red, black and white. Each variant features a contrasting silver (grey on white) stripe on the fuel tank and seat cowl, complemented by black, red and blue accents, depending on the primary colour.

Also Read: Triumph Thruxton 400 Launch Expected Soon

The Thruxton 400 shares its hardware setup with the Speed 400. This includes a 43 mm upside-down front fork and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is managed by a 300 mm front disc paired with a four-piston radial caliper, while the rear uses a 230 mm disc with a floating caliper. The addition of a front fairing on the Thruxton 400 means it weighs a little more, tipping the scales at 183 kg (kerb), which is 4 kg heavier than the Speed 400's 179 kg. The Thruxton 400 rolls on 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres with 17-inch wheels at both ends.
Triumph Thruxton 400 Launched In India At Rs 2 74 Lakh 3
Powering the motorcycle is the same 398 cc TR-Series engine used in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, but it gets a five per cent boost in the Thruxton 400, thanks to the revised cam timing. This enables it to produce 41.43 bhp – up from 39.45 bhp – while it retains the 37.5 Nm of torque, although at a higher 7,500 rpm. The engine continues with the 6-speed gearbox, but the redline has been increased by 1,000 rpm – from 9,200 to 10,200 rpm – in a bid to hold each gear longer and extract stronger acceleration throughout the rev range.

In comparison to the Speed 400, the Thruxton 400 features a rear sprocket with two fewer teeth. This difference allows the Thruxton 400 to achieve a higher claimed top speed of up to 161 kmph on paper, whereas the Speed 400 tops out at around 145 kmph. Triumph states that the 0-100 kmph sprint has also dropped by a full second to 6.7 seconds.
Triumph Thruxton 400 Launched In India At Rs 2 74 Lakh 2
The Thruxton 400 occupies a unique position in the market, with few direct competitors. The closest alternative, the Royal Enfield Continental GT, sits in a higher segment due to its additional cylinder. Moreover, it will target a niche audience in the country, but Triumph’s 400 cc portfolio now gives more options to choose from.

Ethanol-Blended Petrol Affecting Car Performance And Fuel Efficiency? Government Issues Clarification

Is E20 petrol –  or petrol with 20 per cent ethanol blending – really affecting your car’s performance as well as fuel efficiency? Multiple concerns have been raised by citizens over the last few days saying they’re seeing a dip in both fuel efficiency as well as performance figures in their cars. Addressing those concerns, the Indian government has come out with a series of rebuttals claiming that these concerns are largely unfounded and not supported by scientific evidence or expert analysis.

undefined

In a statement, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said,”Ethanol has a higher octane number than Petrol (~108.5 vs. 84.4) which implies that ethanol-petrol blends have a higher octane number than traditional petrol. Vehicles tuned for E20 (having increased RON) deliver even higher performance.(Ethanol) increases air-fuel mixture density, therefore increasing the engine’s volumetric efficiency.”

Also Read: Hydrogen And Green Fuel Will Be India’s Future: Gadkari

Acknowledging a drop in fuel efficiency owing to the use of E20 petrol, the Ministry added, “Ethanol, being lower in energy density than petrol, results in a marginal decrease in mileage, estimated at 1–2 per cent for four-wheelers designed for E10 and calibrated for E20, and around 3–6 per cent in others. This marginal drop in efficiency can be further minimized through improved engine tuning and use of E20-compatible materials.” It also said that replacement of some rubber parts and gaskets could be advised in certain older vehicles after prolonged use of say 20,000 to 30,000 kms.

E20 fuel 1

Warning signs have been put up at some fuel stations regarding use of E20 fuel.

Apart from the reduced fuel efficiency and performance car users have also been complaining about ethanol-blended petrol being sold at the same cost as earlier and non availability of petrol sans ethanol at fuel pumps. Multiple users have taken to social media complaining about the disadvantages since they started using E20 petrol in their cars. There has also been no advisory issued yet from leading carmakers about the usage of E20 fuel in cars which do not have E20-compliant engines.
